Karzzzz ka Update!!!

Himesh Reshammiya and Shweta Kumar shot for a song for Satish Kaushik’s Karzzzz last week at one of South Africa’s exotic resort destinations, Emperor’s Palace, in Johannesburg.

Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series says, “We shot our version of Karz’s Dard-E-Dil (it’s called Tera Chehra Jab Se Dekha in Karzzzz). In the original, Rishi Kapoor sang the song to Tina Munim at a party.

The ambience is similar but the lyrics are different — more lively and in sync with today’s times. Farah Khan’s assistant, Piyush is choreographing the song and Sameer is the lyricist.”

Crore-worthy?

Talking about the song Bhushan adds, “Tera chehra… is a very romantic song where Himesh sees the girl (Shweta Kumar) for the first time. It’s going to be one of the most expensive songs we have ever shot and will cost over a crore.

It needed a magnificent and expensive looking location. Most of the film will be shot in South Africa and later in Mumbai. Himesh has grown his hair and has lost weight for Karzzzz and cuts a dashing figure.”

Talking from Jo’burg Himesh says, “I am having a blast shooting for the song. Dard-e-Dil is one of my all-time favourite songs.

I have tried to keep the emotion of the original composition intact in my new one. The music of Karzzzz has turned out as per my satisfaction.

I can say with confidence that I will be able to satisfy my fans. Especially, since they will be hearing my voice and music after almost a year with this track of mine.”

Bhushan Kumar’s mega film ‘Karzzzz‘ was flagged off on 25th Jan ‘08, on the T-Series premises with a pooja to introduce the entire star cast of the film. Hosted by popular RJ and Anchor Siddharth Kannan, the event saw the presence of the original creator Subhash Ghai and the evergreen Rishi Kapoor himself, who shared their fond memories of the film and expressed their heartiest wishes to the present crew, to make it an even bigger success.
Also present to grace the occasion and seek the blessings of God and Subhash Ghai, were the cast and crew of the new film- Himesh Reshammiya, debutante Shweta, Danny Denzongpa, Raj Babbar and director Satish Kaushik, along with Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Tanya Kumar and Tulsi Kumar, all from T-Series. The stars started off the event with a small pooja thanking God and went ahead to grace the stage and share their thoughts on the film.
Subhash Ghai considered it a proud moment when Bhushan Kumar and Himesh approached him for the remake of this film. He said “It’s a big compliment that they wish to bring the original film back to life.” On the other hand, Rishi Kapoor who mesmerized everyone present, said that he thoroughly enjoyed portraying ‘Monty’ ( in the original) and he looks forward to the new ‘Karzzzz‘.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, ‘Karzzzz’ is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1980 film about reincarnation. Indra Kumar’s daughter Shweta will make her debut with ‘Karzzzz’ and play the lead role of Tina Munim opposite Himesh Reshammiya, who will don Rishi Kapoor’s role for the same. Urmila Matondkar could not be present due to sickness.
Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film also stars Urmila Matondkar, Gulshan Grover, Danny Denzongpa, Rohini Hatangadi and Raj Babbar. Himesh Reshammiya also scores a hat trick by acting, singing and composing the music for the film!!!
The shooting is scheduled to commence from 10th February and the film will be shot in South Africa, Kenya and Mumbai.
T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original film ‘Karz’ directed by Subhash Ghai. The original film had a cast of Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim, Premnath amongst others and was a big success of the 80’s.

Sequels have become a trend in Bollywood now. Many Sequels have had a blast at Box office like Lage Raho, Phir Hera Pheri, Dhoom:2. Krrish and many are in making like DON:2, Raaz:2, Sarkar:2 and third parts like Krrish:2, Munnabhai chale amrika. While the sequel trend is on, the latest to fell in this trend is none other than the rockstar himself ,Himesh Reshammiya. Yes its right, the composer/singer turned actor after a huge success of his debut movie Aap Ka Surroor, is all set to futher gear up his acting vehicle. And he is definite for the sequel of this movie.

Satish Kaushik’s Karz will be very different from Subhash Ghai’s original. What will remain are three of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s songs namely ‘Dard-e-Dil’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and the theme song ‘Ek Haseena Thi’. This gives Himesh who sees himself as L-P’s inheritor, a chance to pay homage to his raga-models.

‘Dard-e-dil’ is, in fact, one of Himesh’s all-time favourite songs. Himesh insisted on having it in Karz. “But even the adapted songs will be interpreted in a new way. They’ll be sung and re-designed by Himesh. And just as in the original, the theme Ek Hasina Thi will be used in the background throughout my film”, Satish informs.

The fate of Ram Gopal Varma’s Sholay notwithstanding, the extended spell of remakes continues. Satish Kaushik is half-way through the scripting of the remake of Subhash Ghai’s Karz. But here’s the catch.

“My remake will be very different from Subhash Ghai’s film. It’s of course being done with Himesh Reshammiya’s personality in mind. I’ve the highest regards for Himesh as a musician. My Karz will highlight the protagonist’s role as the rock star. I don’t want to focus that much on the reincarnation theme. I’ve done many remakes earlier. Does my Tere Naam look anything like the original Telugu film?” states Satish Kaushik.

The story will be transposed from Ooty to a foreign location. Possibilities being of Europe.

This will be a 25-30 crore budgeted film. And Himesh’s tracks have to be heard to be believed! When Satish Kumar heard them he was stunned. Satish says he is capable of extracting performances from his actors. Himesh has already proved himself a success as an actor. Now we’ve to build on that.”

The leading lady is yet to be decided..but the negative role of Kamini has been fit for Urmila. Also, a song is being made specially for Urmila in the movie.

Movie will have another actor for the first role, while Himesh will play the character reborn as a rock star. Danny Denzongpa has been chosen for the role of Pran.

Himesh Reshammiya son of Veteran Gujarati music director Vipin Reshammiya, was born on 23rd July 1973.

Himeshji studied at Hill Grange School in Peddar Road where he met his best friend Prashant Chadha. Prashant is responsible for Himesh’s new look and for directing all of Himesh’s music videos from his private album “Aap Kaa Surroor” as well as promotional videos for the movies “Aashiq Banaya Aapne”, “Aksar” & “Tom, Dick & Harry”.

At just 16 years old and before Himesh Reshammiya went into music direction, he produced television serials for TV which included serials such as “Andaz” & “Amar Prem”.

The first big break came when Himesh Reshammiya approached Salman Khan (who had just made it big with the hit movie “Maine Pyar Kiya”) who gave Himesh the chance to be a music director for the movie “Bandhan” along with the composer Anand Raj Anand.

Himeshji entered bollywood on 29th June 2007 with the release of his first film 'Aap Kaa Surroor the moviee: The Real Luv Story' The film was released on his mother's (Mrs Madhu Reshammiya) birthday & the film has done tremendous success by breaking all box office records to date.
